With over 20 years at the Bar, Stuart Law is an experienced lawyer specializing in conflict resolution where it matters most – in the home or in the workplace. With his background in Family Law and Employment Law, Stuart can navigate these matters respectfully, effectively and decisively.
Stuart can quickly remove the mystery and confusion often associated with the legal process and concisely explain what a client’s rights and obligations are. His common sense and experience allows him to cut through the complexities of contested matters to provide leadership and empathetic support.
Stuart can provide representation in all Family Law matters including divorce, custody, child support, spousal support and the equalization of net family property. Going through a separation or divorce requires you to make some of the most important decisions of your life.
Stuart can help you with that by taking the time to listen to you and help you identify your legal objectives efficiently, fairly, and effectively. He recognizes that you are going through emotional, social and financial challenges and will not be afraid to speak up for you at a difficult time. Let him help you find your way to a better tomorrow.
Conflict can also arise at work. It can lead to job loss and severe economic consequences. Stuart has been helping clients obtain fair wrongful dismissal settlements throughout his career. An employer may have the right to terminate an employee’s employment, but it must do so by giving adequate notice of that termination so its employee has sufficient time to find alternate employment. The adequacy of this notice period depends on the facts of each individual employee situation. Stuart will help you ascertain what notice period you are entitled to and help you seek same from your former employer. Should negotiations fail, Stuart has the experience to have the matter resolved fairly and effectively in mediation or in court.
After serving as Head of College, Stuart graduated with High Distinction from Trinity College at the University of Toronto in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours). Upon graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1992 and completing its Intensive Business Law Workshop, he was called to the Bar in 1994. He moved west from Toronto to serve the Halton and Hamilton communities in 1995.
Stuart is a former president of the Halton County Law Association and the Rotary Club of Oakville North. He is a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Halton County and Hamilton Law Associations. He has three wonderful children and is a proud Bruce Trail End-to-Ender.
